This document is the Privacy Policy for (the “Site”), a website developed and operated by the Council for Responsible Nutrition (“CRN,” “we” or “us”) in connection with the Standardized Information on Dietary Ingredients (SIDI) Work Group. We are a member of the SIDI Work Group, along with the Consumer Healthcare Products Association and the United Natural Products Alliance.

Information We Collect

Personal Information. In general, you can visit the Site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information, which is any information that identifies you individually (such as your name, postal address, or email address). However, if you want to access certain features offered through the Site, such as downloading voluntary guidelines or other content, we will ask you to register and provide certain personal information, such as your name, business affiliation, postal address, phone number, and email address. We also may retain any personal information you provide when you send us a comment or question, or request information. If you do not want to give us any personal information, you can decide not to use these features of our Site.  We may combine this personal information with other information, including personal information, that we have collected about you through the Site or from other sources.

Automated Information Collection. We may automatically collect some information about your computer when you visit the Site. For example, we may collect your IP address, web browser software (such as Internet Explorer), and referring website. We also may collect information about your activity on the Site, such as the activities in which you participate or the pages you view. With Whom We Share Information

We may share the information we collect about you in limited circumstances, including:

  • With other members of the SIDI Working Group, and they may use the information for any of the purposes for which we are authorized to use it, as described above;
  • To respond to legal requirements, subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, in response to a request for cooperation by a government agency, in response to suspected illegal activity or violations of our Terms of Use or other agreements, or to protect our rights or property or those of third parties.
  • In aggregated or other non-personally identifiable form to third parties for various business purposes, including business analysis and advertising; and
  • Otherwise pursuant to your consent.

Your Rights

You may review and update the personal information you have provided to us by contacting us at or by writing to CRN Webmaster, 1828 L Street, NW, Suite 510, Washington, D.C. 20036.  We will make reasonable efforts to respond promptly to all such requests but reserve the right to limit such requests to two per year per individual.

You may at any time print, download or request a printed copy of this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use Agreement into which it is incorporated by reference.

How We Protect Personal Information

We use commercially reasonable efforts to protect your personal information from unauthorized access. However, no method of transmitting or storing electronic data is ever completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that such information will never be accessed, used, or released in a manner that is inconsistent with this policy. 

Links to Other Websites

This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by us through the Site. Any information that you provide to, or that is collected by, third party websites (including the websites of the other members of the SIDI Working Group) is not subject to this Privacy Policy and may be subject to the Privacy Policies of those websites, if any.  When you access third-party websites, we encourage you to consult those websites’ privacy policies to understand their procedures for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information.

Transfer of Data Outside Your Home Country

Your information will be stored, processed, and accessed in the United States. If you use the Site from outside of the United States, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States (i.e., outside your country of residence).

Safeguarding Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information or other identifying data from children under thirteen (13) years of age. Should a child whom we know to be under thirteen (13) years of age send personal information to this Site, we will immediately delete that information from our database.

Terms, Changes and Questions

By using this Site, you signify your agreement to the terms of this Privacy Policy and to the Terms of Use Agreement, of which this Policy is a part.  If you do not agree with this Policy or the Terms of Use Agreement, please do not use the Site or disclose any personal information through our Site.

We may change this Privacy Policy. If we decide to do so, we will notify you of any material changes by sending you an email at the address you provided to us or by posting those changes here. Your continued use of the Site after any update constitutes your agreement to the updated Privacy Policy for any information collected after the update.
